As soon as we get days of 10 degrees Celsius and sunlight in the spring, butterflies begin to emerge. By the summer months, a wide variety of species can be found. You'll often see butterflies in fairly open areas feeding on blooming wildflowers, but they really can be found just about anywhere! To date, I have recorded 29 species of butterfly within The Kensington Conservancy's focal area, but there's still many more left to find. Here are photos that I have taken within the focal area of 28 of those butterflies. The only one not featured here are American Lady, as the photo is not much more than a distant blob! |
I hope you enjoyed the photos. If you see any butterflies of your own and would like help with identification, feel free to email them to me!
I hope to resume my virtual tours of TKC preserves next week!
