Boyer Preserve Hiking Trails
A huge thanks goes out to volunteer Dave Moule, who has spent countless hours this summer creating these trails!
Our new hiking trail is now open to the public!
You can access the approximately 1.7km looped trail off the south end of our existing trail at our Foster Parkland and Walking Trails property on Mink Point Road in Desbarats. The new trail takes you through a variety of habitat types with some great views of the water. Lots of wildlife and plants to be found along the way as well! On the above map, the red trail is the new one, while the blue trail is the existing one on our Foster Parkland and Walking Trails property.
Please be advised that some sections of this trail do have poison ivy growing nearby. These sections are currently well marked with temporary signage and you should be fine as long as you stay on the trail. The trails also have some rocky and slightly rough areas, but as more people walk them, the conditions should improve.
We still have plans to further develop the trail system on the Boyer Preserve beyond this, but we will not likely see any more of it open up in 2018.

Below are some photos from our staff's first hike of the complete loop today (August 20th). We'll be back again soon on a sunnier day to take even more photos!
