Assistant Field Technician
The Kensington Conservancy is a local land trust that protects almost 1,200 acres of ecologically sensitive land in the St. Joseph Channel area. We are looking to hire up to two summer employees to assist with field work, our environmental education programs, and related tasks.
Location: Desbarats, Ontario
Duration of Contract: 8-10 weeks starting mid-to-late June 2023
Positions Available: 1-2
Compensation: $16.50/hour (35 hours/week)

Duties and Responsibilities
- monitor nature preserves for disturbances and general ecological health
- collect data on the presence of flora and fauna species
- basic trail maintenance
- conduct guided tours
- conduct educational programs within the local community, especially for youth
Qualifications and Skills Required
- completed, or currently completing, a diploma or degree in a field related to natural resources
- identification of local flora and fauna species, including invasive species
- knowledge of local ecosystems and how they function
- experience working outdoors in all weather conditions
- exceptional outdoor navigation skills
- the ability to work both independently and as a team
- experience working with youth
Candidate Eligibility
- must be a youth between the ages of 15 and 30 and a permanent resident of Canada
- available for evening and weekend work
